Late last month, Coach Anthony Zaccagnio and Coach Colin Zaccagnio represented Thunderbird FC at the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago, IL. Learning from some of the legendary coaches of the sport was an eye opening experience for Coach Anthony Zaccagnio, especially when he was able to meet the University of North Carolina Women’s Soccer Head Coach, Anson Dorrance, who has led the Tar Heels to 21 National Championships in his tenure.

“Getting to meet Anson was extremely inspirational for me. He has mastered how to develop his players into successful athletes and great people, too,” Coach Anthony reflected.

The Zaccagnio duo were awarded a 4v4 Coaching Diploma from the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago, IL.  Taught by University of Redlands’ Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach, Cyndi Goodwin, and United Soccer Coaches Academy Staff Member, Doug Williamson, the Zaccagnio’s spent four hours diving deep into youth soccer culture, grassroots education, and how to create a fun atmosphere while teaching kids soccer.

This 4v4 certification embodies mastery of coaching method for children ages 6-8 years old and fits perfectly in line with Thunderbird FC’s mission to deliver proper technical development to the youth of Phoenix, AZ.
